Daniel Calva-Cerqueira, MD, FACS completed his training at the prestigious Johns Hopkins/University of Maryland Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery program. The Johns Hopkins Hospital has been ranked by US News and World Reports as the #1 hospital in the US for 23 years. During his tenure at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the first hand transplant ever performed at Johns Hopkins took place.
During his training at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital, University of Maryland, and R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Dr. Calva-Cerqueira trained in a wide variety of hand problems, and traumatic injuries. From treating finger tip injuries, to amputations, tendon ruptures, finger fractures, distal radius fractures, forearm fractures, repetitive motion injuries, complications from arthritis, nerve injuries, and congenital anomalies.
Dr. Calva-Cerqueira served as the first Administrative Chief Resident in the department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and he is the first recipient, within the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, to receive The Frank I. Coulson Jr. Award for Clinical and Academic Excellence at Johns Hopkins. This is the most prestigious award at Johns Hopkins, and a very selective process by his peers is used to select the individual.
